CHANGES

The following changes are planned:

CHANGE REASON
TIPPING We would ask that you please tip dealers $3 to $5 per game. We are heavily discounting the bars (free upon starting back, actually) since there is no tournament prize overhead or dealer bonuses we have to pay out, and so that the bars can get back on their feet. Since dealers will be working on tips and tips alone, we need to make it worth their while. For phases one and two of returning dealers will be able to set their own schedules, so if they are not getting tipped enough they may cancel their events.
JOINING A TABLE LATE You can still get in for the first round after chip-up (break), but you will not qualify for any extra chip bonuses. Full bonuses will still be given if you play at least one round prior to the first chip-up. It's not fair to those who played the first half of the game.
VIP REFERRAL BONUS When you refer someone to 4 Aces you will now receive 7 days of VIP status instead of 14 days. However, you will receive 21 additional days of VIP status once your referral has played their 25th game with 4 Aces. We provide the means for you to send them an email so you can follow up with them if you haven't seen them in a while. New players will now receive 4 weeks of VIP upon signing up plus 1,000 AWP once they have played their 25th game. The spirit of the VIP referral system has been degraded due to current players calling dibs on new players they did not actually recruit, and by not being friendly enough with new players in general. The reason for the generous VIP bonus is to encourage you to sit out a game and teach a new person how to play and/or at least to make them feel welcome. Instead what often happens is that once they are in the system the player who claimed credit for "referring" them drops them like a hot potato. They've got their bonus now, so why should they care? This update to the VIP system is to motivate current players to make new players feel more welcome than they have in the past.
RSVP The sooner you RSVP prior to an event, the more AWP it will be worth. Waiting until the last minute will reduce the amount of extra AWP you receive. The chip bonus will remain unchanged. It helps a lot to be able to more accurately predict how many people will be coming to an event. The sooner we have that information the better. Up until now, many players have been waiting until just a few moments before the cut-off to RSVP, which is not as helpful. This change is intended to reward players for letting us know further in advance.
Social Media Check-ins Only one will be allowed per event (instead of 2). We have not seen that many new players joining as a result of current players checking in on social media, nor has a venue ever taken notice that we use poker to promote them (presumably because social media check-ins are not as effective as we once thought.) This change serves to simplify things for everyone and to keep chip stacks more uniform, giving more value to other more worthy bonuses. At some point in the future this bonus may be eliminated altogether. It will be mostly up to the venues.
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
Multi-venue Bonus You will now receive 1,000 extra chips for going to more than one venue in a day (vs. 2,000). Some bonuses are incentives while others are thank you's. This was originally intended as a thank you bonus.
--Players have been going to venues they really don't want to go to just so they can get an extra 2,000 in chips at the venue where they really want to go. We feel it is important to reward you for supporting more than one venue in a day, but up until now it has been crazy as far as players driving back and forth between venues. All that time on the road takes away from your ability to just relax and play poker somewhere, the way the Poker Gods intended. We'd like you to pick an early venue and enjoy yourself there and then maybe head over to the late game somewhere else. Relax, this is supposed to be fun and relatively stress-free. It is our hope that this reduction in the multi-player bonus will be the right balance of rewarding you for going to an early and then a late event, but not so generous as to cause you to spend poker time driving all over Orlando.
-- In order to survive, we have to have multiple events happening at once, and this needs to happen much more often. This will result in bigger prizes and more overall success for the league as a whole, as well as for our venues (in the long run). This is standard for most leagues. We try to offer a variety of venues with different vibes, so you can pick the one you like best and support it. Yes, we do want you to explore other venues and get to meet players you don't see every day so they aren't strangers (hence the Explorer Bonus), but most of the time you should be able to hang out wherever you want to without having to chase a large bonus just to keep up with the other players.
Mobile Sign-in Instead of having to be within 1,200 feet of an event, you will now have to be within 500 feet. This is due to people signing in for the next table, but then not showing up until much later. The original intent of this system was to address extenuating circumstances by verifying that you were basically there, but perhaps looking for parking (such as is often the case with Ember), and we could hold a spot at the table for you. Also, it enabled players to wander around larger properties (such as Parliament House) without having to linger by the table waiting for the next opportunity to play. Unfortunately, people have been signing in for the next table and then arriving much later. This creates an awkward situation where we have unused seats and players who are actually there can not play. It is hoped that the new proximity requirement will be a better balance of maximizing convenience while preventing mischief.
Dealer Drinking Dealers will still be allowed to drink as long as they can maintain, but some new restrictions will be going into effect. This is an internal matter, so the details are not going to be posted here at this time, but we do hope you will notice a change. Why not ban dealers from drinking altogether? This is not the WSOP. It is free bar league poker, and it is supposed to be fun for players. When dealers are happy and having fun, so are the players, so long as dealers can moderate their alcohol intake to take the edge off while not getting drunk. Also, we are under immense pressure to generate sales for our venues, and we are already at a disadvantage because unlike a lot of other leagues we don't take illegal shortcuts to get you to spend money, so every little bit helps. If an otherwise sober dealer wants to have A drink then they should be able to have one. It can be sometimes be hard for us to say no, so we ask that you please use discretion when buying us a drink, unless of course our shift is completely over and we are just hanging out at the bar afterwards as civilians.
